In the "Hot Seat" with Mike Smith

This month we are chatting with Senior Telecoms Engineer, Mike Smith

So Mike,  What do you enjoy most about your job?

I have the great fortune of working with a fantastic team of engineers and having finished working on a full upgrade of our telephony system I am keen to start demonstrating the features to our clients through the workshops.

What will the workshops involve?

The workshops are designed to show the clients how they can get the most value out of our phone system to improve their own communication and productivity.

What’s the best piece of advice anyone has given you?

Just because someone else does the wrong thing doesn’t mean we are exempt from doing what’s right

What makes you tick? Gets you out of bed in the morning?

Inactivity without purpose makes my ambitious side anxious, I find that I need to keep busy to avoid spiritlessness & mischief.

What’s your favourite app at the moment?

Would you allow a joint first place?

I think we can allow that.

Well in that case I am really loving the new Guardian News app which keeps me well informed but also has a great comments section and I would be lost without my music app Deezer which is much like Spotify.

If you could take one luxury item to a desert island, what would it be?

A solar powered rum distillery with a mojito maker attachment

Do you have a favourite quote or motto that you live by?

“‘I am’ is reportedly the shortest sentence in the English language. Could it be that ‘I do’ is the longest sentence?”

Thanks Mike, we look forward to seeing you at the Landmark Technologies Telephone Workshops
